Run2Heal News – March 2007

Hi Everyone!  Trust you are all fit and well and continuing to make exercise and balance part of your lives.   Make sure you check out my Anlene berry smoothie recipe, so simple to make, so delicious and so good for you too.  Click Here to download recipe.

Run2Heal
Many of you have emailed me wondering just when our next Run2Heal will take place.  We are working behind the scenes on something new and special that I can’t wait to share!  However, we need to be a little further down the track before telling.  As there will be no Run2Heal this summer, I suggest we all get our shoes on and head to Devonport this weekend to run or walk and talk 5k or 10k.

Devonport Classic
Come and join me at the Devonport Classic this (25 March) weekend.  The 5 and 10k run/walk raises funds for Stanley Bay School.  Besides being one of the most picturesque courses around, there is the added thrill of being able to pass through the underground tunnel from the Naval Base.  The tunnel is open to the public once a year and next Sunday 25 March is the day! Enter on line at www.devonportclassic.co.nz (See press release for further information/prizes etc - click here)

Run2Heal/Allison Roe Trust
The Trust continues to support projects that will have positive outcomes for community health.  The trust is currently supporting a research project into dental health (which has huge implications for overall wellness of the individual) at the University of Auckland.   We continue to support the Breast Cancer Network in regard to their Stop Cancer where it Starts initiative and also with assistance for the investigation into breast cancer and the environment, which includes a submission to Government.  For more information visit the Breast Cancer Network NZ website at www.breastcancernetwork.org.nz

Health Choices
Wouldn’t it be great to think that New Zealand could be a world health leader.  In order for that to happen we would need integration of the main stream medical model with complementary modalities, nutritional medicine and natural products; the goal would be future sustainable health care.  Pharmaceutical products need regulation and so do natural products.  However right now our government is wishing to pass control of that regulation to Australia, which according to all the experts (kiwi based and internationals) consulted, would be a disaster for New Zealand and the future health of our children and grandchildren. Stay strong,

Allison
